The Gold Community Loses an Icon: James E. Sinclair, 1941–2023
An icon dedicated to sharing his vital financial wisdom has passed. Jim Sinclair was a titan of the precious metals world -- a titan both in terms of intellect, and in his commitment to sound money based on real, tangible assets. Jim’s friendship and counsel spans more than five decades, and it has been invaluable. Those of us who knew him, worked with him, shared ideas with him, and at times sparred with him, are blessed. We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to call him a friend.
Jim cut his teeth in the metals world when inflation was out of control and when metals offered one of the only ways to protect one’s savings. Jim built mining companies, and from the early 2000s used the internet to build a platform where his wealth of knowledge was shared with millions of dedicated readers. He made it his mission to keep people informed about the risks of losing sight of what has been real money for thousands of years.
Jim should be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a teacher, a generous and charitable man, a prescient sage who wanted individuals to be informed, a patriot, and an advocate for the individual, one who wanted people to be fortified with the knowledge to take control of their own financial well-being. Jim found a way to take some of the most complex financial topics and Byzantine interrelationships and explain them in ways that can be easily understood… and acted on.
The chorus of truth tellers lost a voice today. The burden grows just a bit more on the rest of us to rise to this occasion and continue to spread the word of truth about achieving financial independence, and the beauty of patriotism.
While our hearts are heavy, we have very fond memories, and we have the treasure trove of wisdom that he was always willing to share.
